Mix

The herbalism proficiency allows players to mix herbs and roots together making throwable mixtures. To mix you need a mortar and pestle as well as the roots them selves.

Memorize

because of the hassle of spellbooks wizards developed memorization techniques that allow them to memorize the words of a spell for a while and cast it with out the spell book.

Mail

I-mail is a quick and effective way of transferring items from player to player. It is possible to scribe letters on parchment to leave a message for another player.

Mount

If you find yourself constantly running out of stamina when traveling you may require a mount. Once a mount it is found, type mount in order to mount it.

News

From time to time the Immortals will use the news channel to inform players of upcoming events. When new news is available a [NEWS] tag will be displayed in your status line.

Novice

New players who need help with the game may join a novice clan. This clan was created by Vassago himself.

Notify

If you want to know when friends log onto Materia Magica you may use a notify list. This will inform you when they log on, or off. You may have up to 25 people on the list at a time.

Order

If you have purchased pets, or have other NPCs within your formation for whatever reason you are able to control it, somewhat. Currently it seems impossible to order them to attack.

Open

To pass through closed doors one must first open them. Typically ?€?open door?€™ will work, but other times it is needed to specify a direction.
