Thinking of donating to Materia Magica? Good for you. While the game is free to play every donation helps keep it running, paying for the servers and equipment required for such a large and complex universe.

Reward Units

The easiest way to donate is through a Paypal account, however you can also give money by mail or money order. All of this information is available on the Materia Magica Contribute page. The levels of RU you get per dollar depends on how much you donate at any one given time, making it more profitable to donate large sums at once rather than small sums spread out.

For instance, from the contribute page: "Contributions $1 to $10 receive reward units for 65 cents apiece." This means for a $5 donation you will receive approximately 3.25 reward units, which will actually be 3 reward units in the game (decimals are always dropped, even when over .5). To figure out how much you will get, simply multiply your dollar amount times how many "cents apiece" your donation is worth.

Rewardunits can be used to purchase in game donation items from specific locations, or can be sold to players. The going rate for 1 RU seems to be about 140,000 gold. If you do trade with a player be sure to request a guide (either by praying or sending a tell to available guides) for your trade.

The Van Pelt family runs various stores in many large cities in Alyria, including: Rune (near recall, the Temple of Life area), New Rigel (2 west and 1 south of town square) and Sigil (one of the shops south of recall, or Temple of Earth). All shops sell the same things.
