I. Introduction:

Welcome to third class! Whether you are not yet third class, just turned third class, or already 180, this guide will be helpful if you are clueless in what to wear. You will spend a lot more time leveling in this class than you spent in second class. Most third class equipment with some exceptions is hard to obtain at your level. If you have high levels in your clan, they can get some items for you. Otherwise, just buy them from the bazaar. Most third class equipment is not especially expensive but more expensive than second class equipment.

-Riel and Neraka

II. General EQ before 180:

* indicates it is easily obtainable (though some areas might not be easily accessible)

The following list is NOT a full list. I only listed the items I thought were relevant. Some items that are too rare or that are not very useful have been omitted.

Items in bold will be useful at level 180.

III. Level 180 Equipment:

When thinking about putting together an equipment list, for convenience, get a set which will have the spells 'sense life,' 'detect invisibility,' 'haste,' 'sanctuary,' 'improved invisibility' and 'pass door.' You might want to switch equipment around according to your need (example: black belt in general for 'pass door' and belt of pain for combat). Most standard equipment for 180s is not obtainable by a third classer so the bazaar is your friend. All equipment in the Level 120 guide can still be used but only if the third class suggestions are too expensive for you.

Those obtainable by third classers will have a * next to them.

A decent set of equipment worth in total less than 1.5 million gold is listed below in bold.

V. Third Class Spellbooks

Third class is the class when you should get your all of your spellbooks in order. The quest item 'black spellbook' is a must. I recommend putting all of your combat spells into the black spellbook. Other spellbooks that I find especially useful are Focault, Violet and Arcane. Some people might still hold on to their Necronomicon but I don't suggest putting any expensive spells into it if you have one because they can frag.

Below is a list of the most useful spellbooks available at level 180 in order of usefulness

VI. Third Class Items for Rangers and Monks

a) Ranger and Monk
-- Mortar and Pestles

Third class herbalism users, unless you don't plan on staying at level 180 at all, should obtain an onyx mortar and pestle. With it you can mix up to high explosive with only 75% herbalism. However, if you get one, remember to always bless it before you wear it because the extra 10% herbalism is just another affect that can spark off easily.

At level 180, just about every type of quiver will be available to you. Most people wear two different types of quivers at a time. Some things to note are the number of charges available and the type of damage it deals. I will only include the most easily accessible areas when I indicate locations. After speaking to some rangers, they have told me that they like to use Blue and Green because they don't frag, and crimson for high damage.

VII. Third Class Items for Bard

At third class there are only two musical instruments worth mentioning. The magical bagpipes and the violin. The violin is the better of the two because it can not be lost through CPK and because you can play slow using it with only 75% music. Magical bagpipes on the other hand give better affects but have lower complexity and are not CPK-proof.

VIII. Third class hand-held items

Most third classers hold either their spellbook from which to cast or their musical instrument with which to play. However, in the event that you are a third classer who does not have to hold a spellbook or an instrument (psionics and rogues for example,) this section is for you.
