Why a broom?

If you think you can deal with the fact that the broom is not owner-only, the Broom of Baba Yaga is right for you. It is the fastest personal transport item in the game. Yes, magic carpet cast at 240+ might also go 13 rooms sometimes, but you have to cast it every time and people are known to steal carpets since you can’t pick them up.

The broom is also light so not being able to pick up your broom after you get up is less of a problem than it is for rocking horses.

Tips so you will not lose your broom:

1. Make an alias/macro so you sit immediately after you drop your broom.

2. Always check your inventory to see if there is room (weight and item space) before you get up. Start flying and stop flying a little ways from the entrance of the city will help prevent people from stealing your broom when you don’t sit or pick it up fast enough.

3. Always put your broom in a bag after you use it (preferably in a trunk or pouch). If it is in your inventory you might drop it by accident.

4. If you are a faerie, you will be thrown off your broom (mid-flight) when you get burned by iron. So put your iron items in a bag before flying.

5. Your broom will be left on the ground when an agro-mob attacks you in the wilds. Either wear improved invisibility equipment (wizard cloak) or just remember to pick up your broom as soon as start combat. This is particularly true when flying through mountainous terrain (yetis and atronachs are tough especially at low levels). This also applies to when archon hunters attack you in the wilds.

5. If you are in unfamiliar terrain (faerie plane or underground), be cautious where you drop your broom. Drop 1 gold before dropping your broom because in some rooms items dropped will disappear.

6. Be careful when you are flying on your broom while at the same time spamming one of quest bags (vandemaar’s bag, vandemaar’s bottle or bag of tricks). The extra weight/number of the items from the bags might make you unable to pick up your broom when you reach your destination. Make sure you pick up your broom after every flight.

6. Make your gaming client have a large buffer. If you do lose your broom you can search for it using ctf+f. If you’re lucky it will still be where you left it.

7. (Optional) Some people look at their sextant every time their brooms moves to a different room while they fly.

If you do lose your broom:

1. If you dropped your broom in a vanish-drop location. Log the incident and email admin@materiamagica.com. If they are in a good mood they might replace the broom.

2. If you don’t know where you dropped your broom, first thing is look in all your bags. Then make sure you’re not holding the broom in your hand. This can happen when you wear all after you die.

3. If you still can’t find your broom use the ctr+f command and search for Baba Yaga or whatever you the restrung name for the item is. This is when a big buffer will help.

4. If ctr+f does not work and you know what area you lost your broom in. You can try praying for help. If an immortal is in an exceptionally good mood they might help you locate it. Don’t expect anything though.
