Inebriation
Alcohol Consumption in Alyria
Guide and testing from Nemori and Ascidiella
Alcoholic beverages are one of the mostly highly traded and sold commodities within Alyria. They affect all races equally despite stats or any other defining characteristics. Several members of Clan Northstar have, in the name of science, gone on some extended drinking binges in order to bring you some hard facts and statistics of these many alcoholic beverages.
Despite the variety of bars, drink names, class and race specific drinks, all alcoholic beverages originate from the same seventeen types of liquor:
- Vodka
- Champagne
- Brandy
- Beer
- White Wine
- Red Wine
- Whiskey
- Ale
- Firebreather
- Local Specialty
- Benedictine-Wine
- Aquavit
- Absinthe
- Rum
- Mead
- Schnapps
- Elvish Wine
Drinking alcohol involves seven possible levels of intoxication; no effect, tipsy, slight intoxication, moderate intoxication, intoxication, highly intoxicated, and dangerously intoxicated. There are also three levels of sickness; slightly queasy, moderately queasy, and queasy. All our trials were begun at a time where our throats felt parched. The various types of alcohol filled us to varying degrees, some allowing as little as 8 swigs (with 1 ounce to the swig) or 17 swigs.
Summary and Conclusions
Mead and Champagne are the most filling types of drinks with 8 ounces (or gulps if you will) being the most a person can drink from the point of being thirsty. The least filling drinks, allowing the most consumption, are Red Wine, Whiskey, Firebreather, and Local Specialty which each allow 17 ounces to be drank at once.
The most quickly intoxicating drink is Firebreather which makes one dangerously intoxicated after consuming 5 ounces, without any sign of queasiness. On the other hand, Champagne, Beer, Ale and Mead all are the most watered down, allowing one only to reach a level of being highly intoxicated. Beer and Ale in particular are the most watered down, requiring 9 ounces to reach the level of being highly intoxicated.
Benedictine-Wine, Aquavit, Absinthe, Rum, and Schnapps are all the most sickening of drinks allowing one to become moderately queasy. Benedictine-Wine in particular appears to be the most nauseating requiring seven sips to become moderately queasy and then at the tenth sip making one fully queasy.
If one is looking to drink while staying mostly sober and avoid the complications of being queasy, the bar-hops of Northstar recommend drinks containing either Beer or Ale as both are weakest and have no nauseating effects. If on the other hand, you are looking mainly to make yourself sick (perhaps you are binge drinking to excess in order to keep that lean Elvish figure of yours) than drinks containing Benedectine-Wine (of which there are many, though Lowangen's Finest is the most widely available) will be the most suitable for you. However, if your main pursuit is is to get completely smashed very quickly, with of course the hope of remaining smashed for quite a while, than we suggest Firebreather. Firebreather will not only get you the drunkest the most quickly (once again, 5 swigs) but also has no negative queasy effects, and is of the least filling type therefore allowing you to continue to consume it as your drunkenness wears painfully off.
We hope you have enjoyed our little guide to drinking. If you would like to see our full statistics, gulp by gulp, you may click here. May your cup or glass be always full and happy drinking!!
The members of Northstar encourage you to please drink responsibly. Do not drink and ride, and please give the keys to your broom to the designated driver if you plan to drink.
