A Little Night Reading

Thanks to Bloodsong and Botanicus we've got some wonderful new reading; two splendid new race guides, in addition to our basic-fact race pages. Bloodsong has written a Fey Guide and Botanicus has written a Sidhe Guide. Of course, being respective to their races they are bound to be a little biased, but should provide the fey or sidhe (or even the curious of other races) with some fascinating information, perspective, and a little fun personality. Also enjoy Bloodsong's Timing Guide and Nemori has written a basic Hunter Fighting Guide.

Who's Got Class?

Bot's Botany

Botanicus has written a very excellent Guide to Alyrian Botany. It includes chapters on seeds, plants, fruit, sprigs, mixtures and an herbalism appendix that is his famous Herbalism sandstone tablet that he also sells in his vendor shop. There are fascinating tables of information that answer every question and will make you the most successful Elven/Sidhe/etc. gardener of your whole village.

For instance, if you've often wondered what happens when you plant a carrot seed, and how long that will take, this guide will answer that very question for you. So take a look and enjoy! Who know that Bot did more than mapping? Maybe he is learning to multitask or maybe this guide is just a part of his mapping plan. Read and find out!

NoD Expanded

Two more excellent clans have joined our Materia Magica alliance, Navigators of Dawn. Arbiters of Fate(124) and Prophecy(5) have both accepted our invitations to them and will now join the alliance. We have lots of group activities in mind and can see plainly the advantages this will help us with. Hopefully during the upcoming Halloween Global we will have more people around to match others in various classes and help out in the forms. So far we've already enjoyed greater activity and greater communication so it has been a lot of fun.

The fifth clan for our alliance has not yet been chosen or invited so we are considering both options and suggestions from within the alliance and those they are familiar with as well as suggestions from the outside if someone is interested. So far the alliance is working out excellently and we hope to get to better know all of our alliance members and come up with plenty of new ideas and just have fun.

Navigators of Dawn

On October 5th Vassago rebooted and implemented Clan Alliances. Northstar was quick to participate as the first seven alliance slots were being snatched up. We established the Navigators of Dawn alliance and have so far invited three clans with Kindred (96) accepting! It has been a very nice way so far of cooperating and communicating with our Kindred allies.

It is unknown whether the two other invited clans will in the end accept or what other clans might be included. We have not set up official rules yet, pending the admittance of more clans, but hope that this alliance will be a cooperative group that will benefit all the clans involved in a positive way and hope to set up peaceful relations with the other alliances so as not to put our clan or the clans in our alliance in any unnecessary danger. More to come on that as this develops, we expect to see the alliance feature expand in its relevance and importance.

Northstar Order of the Sea Sponge

Our own Ascidiella has been promoted to High Priestess of the Northstar. We are so happy we can finally show her all she has meant to us. She has been in the clan since 2002 and has become an integral part of our group and our dearest friend these last four years together. She has stuck with us in our many ups and downs and has proved herself as the highest class of a member deserving the leadership we have bestowed upon her.

As a result of her promotion and newfound leadership responsibilities Northstar will no longer be run by a Triumvirate but instead by a Tetrarchy with an evenly balanced two male and two female leadership team. It is unknown whether Ascidiella will pursue a benign leadership or perhaps a more dictatorial leadership style. Her first act included a few purges but time will tell whether this is an example of her future actions or merely a blip on her otherwise kind and forgiving style. Congratulations Asci!

Materia Magica 2006 Website Contest

The 2006 contest rules have been posted on the Materia Magica events page. Submissions are due between November 1st and November 20th. Clan Northstar will of course be competing as in all past contests. Hopefully this contest will inspire some really decent sites to get the credit they deserve. Check out our links page for just a sampling of many of the excellent Materia Magica related websites.

New Ally

We are now allied with Kindred, Clan 96. Check out their website and feel free to help out and add to their Wiki. The alliance has been working out very well as our clans seem to have very similary temperments and get along nicely. We have been enjoying the benefits of a few joint runs and the expertise and pleasant company of Kindred members. Hopefully this alliance will continue to blossom and both our clans get better acquainted.
