Rules

This page is an attempt to have a central point for members to refer to that will contain a listing of rules and standards for Northstar. As time goes on we will try to make them all as clear as possible, and will probably add some specifications on a regular basis as they apply. If you have any questions on these feel free to direct them to our attention if there is need for explanation or if you would like to suggest alternatives. And, as you will find, all rules have an exception. They're more like guidelines, anyways. So expect that not in all cases is everything held specifically down to the wording, and that this clan is truly managed by the best estimations of a hard working owner trying to make this clan the most enjoyable it can be.

No outlaws will be admitted and members who become outlaws or appear to be persuing a negative reputation will be removed. There are the five main rules you can see when you type "clan rules."

  1. Be active, not just present. Non-leaders will be demoted one rank for sustained inactivity, with some exceptions allowed: more leniency for proven members. Use clan log and be seen active by other members when possible.
  2. Always communicate with leaders and other members, even if just through the mailing list or imail. Let us know what is going on, of any questions/problems/requests, etc.
  3. Please do not judge other clan members solely on their seniority, rank, or level. Extend this decency and common courtesy to all players of the game (not just our friends and allies). Your actions and words represent the clan.
  4. Our pk philosophy: we are not anti-pk. You are strongly encouraged to avoid picking unfair fights and easy targets. Please refer to clan relations chart. We do prefer that you not attack strangers within your range but the choice is yours.
  5. Above all, have fun and enjoy the game. Remember that it is just that, although we do our best to make it meaningful and interesting. Respect these rules, contribute, keep a good attitude, show concern for the clan's welfare and you will be promoted.

Recently, we have tried to develop a more specific set of rules for certain aspects. Some of these cover and overlap with the rules above, but all should allow a clearer picture to our intentions in creating these guidelines.

Rooting

There is currently no minimum requirement of roots that members are expected to bring in. It is one method of contributing to the clan, but it is not the only way and it understood that not all members will be able to root, and that they may be better serving the clan by focusing their energy elsewhere. As well, every member is allowed to sell roots assuming they meet certain requirements.

  • You must have brought in 1k already for that month
  • You can only sell up to 50% of the roots you have deposited
  • You can sell 100% of what roots you have on hand, without need for permission
  • Before you can transfer you must gain the approval of a clan leader
  • Only Matriarchs/Patriarchs who have been approved, or the leaders can make the actual transfer, so an approved transfer must be handled through one with the security for the actual transaction

Alts

Alts are permitted, however if we see that inactivity or lack of progress on your main character is resulting from attention given to your alt we will encourage you to rethink your priorities. As usual, all unexplained and consistent inactivity is a sign of distancing from the clan and diminishing commitment to or interest in your character to the clan and the leaders will deal with this on a one by one basis to improve the situation or if need be enforce consequences. Alts are not allowed in other clans, with one exception, Sharra. If you have any questions about this you can direct them to a clan leader.

Ranks and Promotions

New members admitted to the clan will remain with a no title flag until their evaluation period has passed. This period will generally last two weeks, but can be less if the leaders feel they should be admitted at a sooner date. During this evaluation period the member will have no clan flags. Once they are fully admitted and are ranked at Acolyte they will receive clan log and gohall privileges. These securities are identical for Loyal Devotee and Judicator. Apostles receive the clan balance privilege. Matriarchs/Patriarchs receive the ability to set the motd, the tax-deposit security, they are offered the extended-gohall security, and can receive the transfer security if it applies.

Promotions are decided by the three leaders on a one by one basis, but involve the following factors:

  • Active(see the old rules, i.e. not just present but participating)
  • Progressing
  • Social
  • Contributes in some fashion
    • Rooting
    • Character improvement(not necessarily quests or levels, but exploration or knowledge gained is appreciated as well)
    • Equipment runs
    • Personal clan support
    • Guides, lists, quests, information or ideas for the website
