You have the ability to learn [21] proficiencies.

Acrobatics
Max
It is a good idea to practice all your defenses up to 75%. Acrobatics can not be used while mounted but is still an excellent defense.

Blind Fighting
Max
This skill can be practiced up to 100% and is useful for the many situations you will be blinded during combat rounds.

Dodge
Max
This is an essential defense, as are nearly all, but this is probably the most effective.

Enhanced Damage
Max
Increases damage dealt based on % practiced to, essential for the warrior.

Exotic
Do not practice
There are rarely enough exotic weapons for this to be worth it. Practicing this would be mostly for show rather than use.

Flail
Do not practice
There are not enough flails for this to be a useful weapon, and once again practicing this would be mostly for show or the occasional exception rather than practicality.

Hand to Hand
Optional
Some find this useful, especially coupled with a monk's martial arts, however weapon damage will almost always be better and it is rare you will find yourself without a weapon for long to justify maxing this.

Kick
Optional
While bash is definitely better, kick is a less powerful and less useful equivalent that can be handy in combat, though by no means necessary.

Magical Items
Low practice
Works efficiently at low practice, used now for scrolls and some orbs, proficiency does not need to be above 5% or so to be effective.

Polearm
Do not practice
Like many other weapons, this one is rare and difficult to find decently damaging weapons at various levels.

Parry
Max
While this isn't the most common defense, it is still very useful and will greatly improve your overall defense.

Riding
Max
This can be practiced to 100% and while that isn't necessary, it will increase your damage while mounted the higher % it is.

Spear
Max
One of the more common weapons with decent damage and decent availability. Practice this either as your main or as a backup.

Sword
Max
One of the most common weapons with decent damage and good availability. Practice this either as your main weapon or as a backup.

Shield Block
Max
Useful defense against spells and projectiles. While not the most common it definitely improves your overall defense.

Second Attack
Max
Adds a second attack (or at least the chance of one) to a combat round.

Second Defense
Max
Adds a second defense (or at least the chance of one) to a combat round. A valkyrie's most unique and useful skill, and one of the major advantages of the class.

Third Attack
Max
Adds a third attack (or at least the chance of one) to a combat round.

Throwing Axe
Do not practice
Not very good damage, or very many choices, throwing weapons tend to be even less useful than the less common weapons.

Throwing Spear
Do not practice
Not very good damage, or very many choices, throwing weapons tend to be even less useful than the less common weapons.

Whip
Do not practice
One of the less common weapons, while slightly better than some is difficult to find good weapons at various levels however in certain circumstances can be useful.
